In 1971 we purchased our riverside site, which was then a Petrol Station, Dayboat centre with two holiday Lodges.

In 1987 we decided to replace our out-of-date Lodges and remembered a customer from years ago who had lost both legs in the war, and was a keen fisherman. He had to crawl through the doors of our old lodge as they were only 21" wide in order to sit and fish by the river. His family gave him little help , as fishing was "not their scene"

In construction, we remembered him and built four lodges with extra wide doors, ramps and floor level showers. The first hiring on these lodges began in the summer of 1988. In 1992 having received many enquiries regarding suitability of our lodges for wheel chair users we contacted the Holiday Care service for an accessibility rating and have since gained category 1 and 2. We soon found out that 75% of our guests had a member in their party who required this kind of accommodation for wheel chair users.

In 1993 the petrol station and Day Boat hire was closed down and Lady Lodge was built on the old office site. This lodge was built and fitted out to the accessibility rating category 2. So successful is this unit that we have to keep a booking chart open for 2 years ahead.

In 1998 Mrs King purchased Eagle Cottage (sleeps 9) which is next door to our other Lodges and (managed by King Line) is surrounded by water on three sides. The large exterior room previously used as a snooker room was converted into two ensuite bedrooms with as accessibility rating category of 2 (them official accessibility rating of the cottage is 3 due to the exterior rooms being detatched from the main house.

In 1995 our Lodges were commended in the Holiday Care Awards (Self Catering Section) as suitable accommodation for the disabled In 2003 we were judged Highly Commended in the East of England Excellence in England awards for Tourism for All. We also gained a highly commended in the Tourism in Norfolk Awards in Norfolk in 2005, and were Finalists in best water based tourism experience award. In 2006 we won the best water based tourism experience award.
